Top 5 Feature: Slow Time Travel

Slow Time Travel is an electronic duo of multi-instrumentalist brothers Joshua (Yehoshua) and Jeremy Hunt, established in Columbus, Ohio in August of 2024.

Their musical influences include: The Smile, Boards of Canada, Air, Coastal Dives and more.

Though the Hunt brothers had been playing music together most of their lives, this project was almost like a reunion after a few years of playing in separate bands.

In August of 2024, Yehoshua had begun studying Sound Therapy (singing bowls, tuning forks, gong cymbals, sound baths, etc.) and became passionate about healing the mind and body through sound frequencies. As with many things the brothers share, music was no different.

The brothers then began listening to meditation music and solfeggio frequencies in their spare time. Transformation took place.

A purpose was born and they started composing music based on the root note; tuning to a specific frequency for a specific effect.

Yehoshua had the idea to share this discovery through music that had a little more vibe to it.

After a few home recording sessions, they gained momentum and decided to call the recordings they were working on anything you want, based on the 528hz frequency, which is known as the "love" frequency.

The Hunt brothers would play that root note frequency and build from it songs that could be used for meditation or casual listening. They focused on their synthesizers, creating melodies/textures and would add rhythms through beats made with samples and/or played on a live drum kit.

The psychedelic soundscapes had an energy of their own and it was only a few months later that Slow Time Travel's EP, anything you want, would be ready to be mixed and mastered.

Through a friend, Yehoshua was introduced to producer/audio engineer, Glenn Davis. Yehoshua and Glenn hit it off right away.

Glenn had Yehoshua send a song over so that he could work on a mix for it; it turned out better than Yehoshua had imagined.

Shortly after this, Yehoshua was in a fender bender, which put a halt to financing the rest of the mixing and mastering.

Glenn then told Yehoshua about the Greater Columbus Arts Council grant for artists and encouraged him to apply for it.

Yehoshua applied, and a few weeks later found out he was awarded the grant.

This allowed Slow Time Travel to be able to afford having the rest of the EP officially finished.

Their debut, anything you want by Slow Time Travel, was released Sept. 22 this year.

The brothers are currently working on adapting the EP to a live performance and look forward to sharing more updates in the very near future.
