Despite the harsh Ohio weather, metal fans proved once again that nothing—not even a snowstorm—can stop them from showing up for a night of heavy music and cathartic energy.

The Ascend Above the Ashes Tour 2025 rolled into Packard Music Hall in Warren, Ohio, on Monday, Nov. 10, bringing with it a lineup that could melt the ice outside: headliners Trivium, special guests Jinjer, and rising British metalcore force Heriot.

The evening began under calm skies, but by the time the last encore faded, five inches of snow blanketed the parking lot—a fittingly dramatic backdrop for such a powerful night of metal.

Heriot opened the show with sheer intensity, proving why they’ve been gaining buzz in the UK metalcore scene.

Their performance was dark, heavy, and atmospheric—equal parts punishing and hypnotic.

Vocalist Debbie Gough commanded the stage with guttural precision while the band’s sludgy, industrial-tinged riffs rattled the venue’s walls.

For many in attendance, this was their first exposure to Heriot—and they left an impression that won’t soon fade.

Then came Jinjer, the Ukrainian powerhouse who have become one of modern metal’s most dynamic live acts.

Frontwoman Tatiana Shmayluk unleashed her full vocal arsenal, switching effortlessly between demonic growls and soaring cleans, while the band’s tight, progressive grooves kept the crowd moving.

With Jinjer’s unmatched versatility, by the end of their set, the entire Hall was chanting their name.

By the time Trivium hit the stage, the energy was electric.

The Florida metal veterans delivered a masterclass in precision and passion; reminding everyone why they remain one of the genre’s most consistent live bands.

Opening with a barrage of riffs from In The Court Of The Dragon, Trivium blended their classic hits—“In Waves,” “Down From The Sky,” and “The Heart From Your Hate”—with newer material that kept the setlist feeling fresh.

Frontman Matt Heafy was in top form, his vocals cutting through the mix while the band—Corey Beaulieu, Paolo Gregoletto, and Alex Bent—played with near-mechanical perfection.

As fans exited into a winter wonderland, there was a sense of shared triumph—the kind of collective euphoria that only comes from a night of live music that transcends the elements.
