Review & Photos: Mushroomhead, Psychostick in Cleveland, Ohio

By David Desin, OOTB Publications

Cleveland, Ohio’s own Mushroomhead stormed back into their hometown on Saturday, Nov. 1 for a night that reminded everyone why they remain one of the city’s most beloved and theatrical metal acts.

The Agora Theatre was packed wall-to-wall with diehard fans; many decked out in full Mushroomhead-inspired masks, face paint, and costumes, turning the venue into a living tribute to the band’s signature visual insanity.

The evening kicked off with a stacked lineup of openers that set the tone early.

Local acts Bittersweet Revenge and Psycho Plantation brought raw energy and pride to the stage, earning cheers from a crowd that clearly loves seeing Cleveland talent shine.

Mind Incision kept the momentum rolling with a punishing set that blended groove and aggression.

Rising band Black Satellite added a dose of dark melody before Psychostick unleashed their signature brand of comedic chaos—turning the pit into a party with their tongue-in-cheek metal anthems.

By the time Mushroomhead took the stage, the room was electric. It was clear this was going to be one to remember.

The band’s mix of industrial metal, pounding percussion, and eerie theatrics hit hard live—with pounding water drums, masks glowing under strobes, and a crowd that sang every word back.

Frontwoman Jackie LaPonza delivered one of the night’s most unforgettable moments, literally walking across the hands of the crowd while belting out her vocals.

Not to be outdone, lead singer Scott “Strike” Beck took to the audience as well, launching himself into a sea of fans for a wild round of crowd surfing that had everyone roaring.

From start to finish, the show was a celebration—not just of Mushroomhead’s music, but of Cleveland’s enduring heavy music culture. Few bands can command a hometown stage the way they can, and this Agora performance proved once again that Mushroomhead’s connection with their fans is something special.

It wasn’t just a concert, it was a homecoming, a Halloween hangover, and a reminder that Mushroomhead still reign supreme in their city of origin.
