Twenty One Pilots—The Clancy Tour: Breach

Sunday, September 28, 2025

Thousands spilled into the pavilion and lawn of The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania; fans lit up in band tees and glowing wristbands, eager to witness Twenty One Pilots deliver what can only be called a masterclass in crowd connection and stagecraft.

The Atmosphere & Venue

Tailgates were humming and merch lines were long, but people were full of enthusiasm as they kept pointing toward the stage, imagining the first chord.

The venue is no stranger to big acts and in this case, it served as the perfect amphitheater for what would become a high‑energy, emotionally resonant show.

Once inside, the venue felt packed. The energy of the crowd—on both the lawn and under the roof—felt unified. It wasn’t just a concert; it was a collective experience.

Opening Act: Dayglow

Before Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun took the stage, Dayglow warmed things up beautifully.

As the tour’s opener, he brought a breezy, upbeat indie-pop sound that fit into the mood without overshadowing what was to come.

His stage presence was relaxed but confident, bridging the crowd into the main event.

After about 30 minutes (a solid opener slot), the stage lights dimmed, and a palpable buzz set in—an unspoken promise: things were about to go big.

Twenty One Pilots: Show Highlights

Once Twenty One Pilots hit the stage, there was no looking back. They opened with “Overcompensate,” launching directly into the Breach era while still nodding to their deeper catalogue.

What stood out most:

• Tyler’s crowd mastery: He doesn’t just front a band, he conducts the energy. Whether he was coaxing call‑and‑response chants, inviting fans to sing along, or pacing across the stage, his ability to read and guide the audience was electric. The crowd sung back nearly every line—from choruses to whispered pre-choruses.

• Dynamic pacing: They shifted seamlessly from explosive tracks into more introspective ones. High-octane numbers (think “Jumpsuit,” “Heavydirtysoul”) contrasted with slower, vulnerable moments, giving the show emotional arcs rather than constant adrenaline.

.• Visual & technical elements: The lighting, video backdrops, and special effects amplified each song without feeling gimmicky. Many newer Breach tracks were live debuts.

• Setlist breadth: Fans got a healthy mix of newer songs, Clancy-era material, and longtime staples like “Ride,” “Stressed Out,” and “Heathens.” No corner of their catalog was ignored.

• Emotional connectivity: It wasn’t all spectacle. In some quieter moments, when tensions dropped and Tyler sang softly, the collective hush was almost sacred. You could feel every breath, every lyric, every pulse of the crowd. When they left the stage for their encore, the roar was deafening—but they returned  with “Stressed Out,” “Guns for Hands,” and “City Walls”, sending everyone home on a high note.

Crowd & Engagement

This was a participatory show in the truest sense. The thousands packed into Star Lake weren’t passive spectators, they were part of it.

From the opening riffs to the encore closing, the crowd’s voices traveled from the furthest lawn spots to the front barriers.

I watched small groups hug or exchange knowing smiles when Tyler invited them to sing or dance. Kids, longtime fans, and even casual concertgoers seemed equally involved. Every big chorus erupted like a wave, rising and falling across sections of the venue.

Final Thoughts

If there was ever any doubt that Twenty One Pilots can still put on one heck of a show, Sunday night at Star Lake erased it. From top-tier performance to crowd symbiosis, they delivered a night that will linger in memory.

Tyler and Josh don’t just perform—they engineer an experience and they turned a concert into a communal rite: voices raised, hearts pounding, memories made.
