Album Review: Cory Marks, Sorry For Nothing Vol. 2

By James Magill, OOTB Publications

Sorry For Nothing Vol. 2 (Better Noise Music)—out tomorrow: Friday, Oct. 3–is the newest album by Cory Marks.

The album is a mashup of styles—a mix of rock and country, with songs that are on complete opposite sides of the spectrum.

I listened to the album a few times; enjoying the sudden shift from a rock song with just a twinge of country, just for the next song to be an old school honky tonk pleaser.

The man has a solid voice that can do several styles with ease—whether it’s the angry rock vocals of the opening track “Hangman” to the bluegrassy sound of “Empty Bottles. “

Eleven songs, just over half an hour long, it’s a solid album that I think is best when he’s singing something heartfelt and sad.

“A Different Kind of Year” gave me some major 90’s country vibes.

The album is eclectic and decent, with enough variety that I would expect most anybody could find something they enjoy.
