Kali Dreamer is the stage name of guitarist, vocalist, and Columbus, Ohio native Markise Johnson.
Kali’s early years were tinged with an interest in music, but it wasn’t until his discovery of Nirvana in his late teens that he would take up guitar and begin writing songs.
His releases over the years range from pop and hip-hop to alternative rock and post-punk.
In 2015, Kali would begin his foray into the Columbus live scene by performing at open mic nights and house shows.
2022 would have Kali joining Non Entity, a label started by musician and producer Derek Christopher, who would assist Kali in the release of albums October Requiem: 1988 and Imperfect Dark.
Imperfect Dark, an album heavily inspired by gothic rock, would be the first time Kali reached out to other musicians for composition help, and would find assistance from longtime friend and bassist Kendall Denton.
