Review & Photos: Lorna Shore, The Black Dahlia Murder, Shadow Of Intent, PeelingFlesh in Cleveland, Ohio
Lorna Shore brought their relentless, unforgiving metal to a horns held high packed crowd at Jacob’s Pavilion in Cleveland, Ohio on Friday, Sept. 26.
The deathcore band, which is easily one of the heaviest out there currently, is touring in support of their hard hitting fifth studio album, I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me, released a couple weeks ago.
The New Jersey-based quintet, led by low guttural and high squeal vocalist Will Ramos, didn’t hold back; performing a brutal set of technical black metal with epic symphonic progressive layers and melodic tendencies that included: “To The Hellfire,” “Into The Earth,” “Prison Of Flesh,” “Cursed To Due,” “Oblivion,” “Glenwood,” “Sun//Eater,” and a Pain Remainstrio encore.
After pausing for an “O-H,” “I-O” call and response chant with the crowd, Ramos mentioned he wasn’t feeling his best and said he wouldn’t be moving around as much; however, he still did the dang thing without a hitch, giving it his all—proving to the crowd that the show must go on.
Ramos, with his rad hairstyle and stretched lobes, rocked an all-white microphone and matching white mic stand, while drummer Austin Archey, who was situated high on the stage, ferociously kept the thunderous breakdowns reverberating.
Smoky fog pockets filled the stage and a backing split six-piece large video wall displayed lyrics and various cryptic images aligning with the songs.
Guitarists Adam De Micco, Andrew O’Conner and bassist Michael Yeager were undistracted and came across as error-free through the speakers; each member concentrated on the solid delivery of every note with focused precision.
The North American Tour—ending Oct. 30–features longtime heavy death metal warriors The Black Dahlia Murder (who released their 10th album Servitude/Metal Blade Records last September) and Shadow Of Intent (who released their 5th album Imperium Delirium this summer), along with Oklahoma powerhouse metalers PeelingFlesh, who just released a new EP titled PF Radio 2 via Unique Leader Records with lead single “D.V.P.B.”.
Be sure to catch this tour; the lineup is one of the heaviest this Fall.
