Review & Photos: GWAR, Helmet, Savage Master

The one-and-only legendary, controversial, theatrical, intergalactic warlords and grotesquely costumed shock rockers GWAR—who have always brought humorous satirical horror antics through performance art to stages and have traditionally drenched fans (via fake blood from barbaric beheadings, limb removal and liquids from fake disembowelments of celebrities and political figures) since the mid-80s; yes, 40 years—visited Cleveland, Ohio’s Globe Iron on Sunday, Sept. 21; touring in support of the filthy thrash metal band’s latest release: The Return Of Gor Gor (Pit Records).

Beca Stein (OOTB Publications)

documented the chaos and carnage:

SO MUCH BLOOD!

Massacre!

Self-sacrifice from the front row!

Never a dull moment when GWAR stomps in town… or plummets into the galaxy from hell or space!?

The aliens give no mercy on those who continue to corrupt and destroy Earth.

Blood Vulture brought the stage to life with theater and awesome finger tricks while having a genuine jam session!

Helmet was definitely a bro-band and worth seeing. For “old times sake!”

Savage Master was a site to see—what a Beauty Queen! For thou shall bow to her all mighty darkness.
