Album Review: Pecos & The Rooftops, From Me

By James Magill, OOTB Publications

Pecos & The Rooftops return with their sophomore album: From Me (Warner Music).

Bursting onto the scene from Texas with their platinum single “This Damn Song” in 2019, they followed it up with the Red Eye EP—one of my favorite releases of all time.

In 2023, their self-titled debut full-length album arrived to well-earned success, and despite a busy touring schedule, they’ve graced us with a new album just two years later—From Me features nine songs and clocks-in at just under half an hour.

The album starts strong with “11 Beers,” a celebration of being just under the legal limit, and then hits its stride with standouts like “Rock Song” and “Burnpile.”

Singer Pecos Hurley’s voice is perfect for this kind of music, especially when lamenting lost love or telling someone to fuck off.

Since its release, this album has been in constant rotation at my house—and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
