Interview: Former Saving Able vocalist Scotty Austin on solo endeavors of current touring, upcoming album
Scotty Austin (Saving Abel vocalist from 2013-2021) has launched an extensive world tour—spanning 21 countries across six continents—throughout the rest of the year and he will release a new album, Echoes Of The King, this winter. From the upcoming record, new single “Talk About You” has been released.
For the ambitious tour, Austin has already hit the road for both unplugged and plugged-in shows with his band; some outings will include shows with Aaron Nordstrom (Gemini Syndrome), Rehab, Peter Dante, Shallow Side, Paralandra and others.
His tour will stop in Lakewood on May 29 at Mercury Music Lounge and in Columbus on May 31 at The King Of Clubs.
Austin recently took time for an OOTB interview:
What do you hope listeners will take away after listening to Echoes Of The King, both lyrically and musically?
To never give up and chase your dreams.
With such an extensive nonstop tour approaching, how do you prepare both mentally and physically?
On my down time, just spending time with family. We started working on this back in the end of December, so I’ve been planning since.
What’s your favorite song to perform live and why that song?
“Low Down” or “Talk About You,” because they both have super cool grooves to them.
With such longevity in the industry, what keeps you motivated and inspired as a musician?
The fans keep me inspired. It’s amazing to just know people support me because I’ve loved music since I can remember.
What’s your favorite part of touring and least favorite part?
Sight seeing is my favorite. I will go out of the way to see beautiful places.
Least favorite part is being away from my family.
What’s your next plans around the album release and when can we expect it to be released?
We will have CDs for pre-order in a month or so. We will have vinyls later on and it will drop digitally on Christmas Eve.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you to everyone who went from me rockin' the stage with Saving Abel to working hard on my solo project to flourish and be happy. I couldn’t do it without the people
