1980’s icons L.A. Guns will release their new full-length album Leopard Skin (Cleopatra Records) tomorrow, and long time fans are in for a treat.
While it’s painfully obvious that many massive acts of the ‘80s age like milk, L.A. Guns is a surprising exception to the rule.
Leopard Skin is a fun, easy-hearted rock-and-roll album. It doesn’t feel overproduced—the riffs are fun and the leads are great, while never being entirely over the top.
In comparison to the majority of their peers, L.A. Guns seem surprisingly ahead of the curve.
Leopard Skin feels fresh, fun and laid back. Simply put; it’s just a really good rock-and-roll record. It’s something you can put on and listen to in full and just have a good time.
They don’t pander and boast the way many bands of their heyday do so often nowadays, in an attempt to garnish attention.
While I don’t particularly see Leopard Skin securing any album of the year spots, I do it see it fairing very well for long-time fans and for people just looking for some good rock-and-roll, or a taste of their youth.
Leopard Skin is certainly worth a listen—a big kudos to L.A. Guns for showing that they can still have a good, rockin’ time.
