Album Review: SAMARRA, Only A Setting Sun Can Save Me

Written By Steve Jones, OOTB Publications

Columbus, Ohio’s own SAMARRA—whose lineup includes ex-Under The Combine and ex-Bless The Child members—has unleashed a new batch of fire! Throughout Only A Setting Sun Can Save Me, their brand of aggressive metal takes you through an array of dizzying guitar riffs, growling vocals, and out of this world drumming.

“The Harmony Of Teeth” sets the tone for an assault on the senses like no other.

“Wormhive” slams with a killer guitar riff and a killer groove, followed by some extremely challenging death metal.

“Carbon Copy” melts faces with a nasty double bass assault breaking into some odd time groove and a very special sweet guest vocal spot by Guy Kozowyk from The Red Chord.

Continue to keep an eye on these guys! Their live performance schedule has grown immensely and I personally can’t wait to catch a show.

SAMARRA’s next show is this Saturday, March 8 at Donatos Basement (2084 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43201) with From A Second Story Window, See You Next Tuesday, Stairway To The Sun. Doors open at 7pm, Admission is $10 at the door.
