Album Review: Edge Of Paradise, Prophecy

Written By Brandi Genzen, OOTB Publications

Edge Of Paradise was formed in Los Angeles, California in 2011. Prophecy is the band’s Napalm Records’ album debut, which uniquely includes 8-String Guitars.

Vocalist Margarita Monet, whom also plays keys, exudes both a soft and a raw quality to her voice; one moment I’m calmly seduced by the sound and the next I want to rage. What a lovely ride it is.

The first two songs really showcase the range and abilities of Edge Of Paradise.

“Death Notes’” lyrics are killer and Margarita puts emphasis on every word. You cannot help but sing along with the chorus after the first verse.

“Give It To Me (Mind Assassin),” feat. Ben V. from Ludorica, is a top contender. The song has a duet that gives the skeleton goose bumps. In the lyrics they demand, “give it to me,” and lure you with the words: “imagine you are limitless.” I would indeed obey by the end of the song, which ends like a dark whisper.

If you enjoy bands anywhere from Evanescence to In This Moment, do yourself a favor and take a listen.

As their 6th album, Prophecy, has been released, us lucky central Ohioans can live the Edge Of Paradise experience Wednesday, March 19 at The King of Clubs in Columbus, Ohio as a part of their tour with Delain and Xandria.
