Album Review: An Easy Death, Better A Hard Life

Written By Christian Cole, OOTB Publications

Rochester, New York based post-punkcore band An Easy Death recently released their first full length LP and it’s the perfect marriage of emo and metal.

Better A Hard Life is filled to the brim with fun and meaty riffs, and dual vocals reminiscent of the best years of emo-metal. It scratches the same itch as bands of the mid to late 2000s while still maintaining freshness. It’s nostalgic but all the while future-forward.

The album opens with absolute raw energy and fury with “Barnstorm” helping set the tone for the album. The back-and-forth between clean and dirty vocals here is fantastic and maintains that through the entire listen.

Through eight tracks the band takes us on an awesome ride with the diversity in the vocal delivery keeping us captivated from start to finish. It’s well mixed, brutal, emotionally charged and refreshing.

An Easy Death keeps one foot in the past and one pointing forward with this LP, it’s rare to find a band channeling the energy of that era of music (early to mid 2000s) while still also managing to keep things new and exciting.

Better A Hard Life is a well-structured and beautifully written first effort from a band only bound to grow their sound even further in years to come.

An Easy Death has announced The Weak_Ender Tour with stops in Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York.
