Review & Photos: Highly Suspect rocks sold-out crowd in Columbus

By Neil Shumate, OOTB Publications

Taking their latest album As Above, So Below on the road this winter, East Coast rock-and-rollers Highly Suspect stopped in Columbus, Ohio for an astounding sold-out show at The Bluestone.

Their wasn’t much banter as the Grammy-nominated band played a memorable set of songs with mixed in phenomenal instrumental breakdowns, including: “My Name Is Human,” “Bath Salts,” “Lydia,” “Pink Lullaby,” “Plastic Boxes,” “Blue-Eyed Devil,” “Wolf “Summertime Voodoo,” the instrumental song “The Reset” and more.

If it wasn’t tatted lead vocalist/guitarist Johnny Stevens’ rock star charisma and solid bluesy grunge vocal tone that pulled fans in, then it was the talent of twin brothers Rich (bass)—who performed “Arizona” solo—and Ryan (drums) Meyer, guitarist/percussionist Matt Kofos and synth/keyboardist Mark Schwartz.

The MCID (My Crew Is Dope) Family fanbase—whom traveled on snow covered roads and stood in below freezing temperatures to pack the venue—did not go home disappointed.

The 20-date tour concludes Feb. 15 in Florida.
