Album Review: The Veer Union, Welcome To Dystopia

Written By Brandi Genzen, OOTB Publications

Dystopia : noun. A state or society where there is great suffering or injustice.

This small group from Vancouver, Canada makes big noise. Their new album Welcome To Dystopia (Rock Shop Records) has a powerful message that shows we are not alone in our suffering.

The focus track “No Excuse” exposes how the wealthy and powerful have control. How the rest of us have had our dreams stolen. The gap between us and them only seems to be widening.

Track 4, “Empirical,” is my personal favorite out of the 8 tracks. The chorus makes the small hairs stand on end. Drums are like a punch in the air sharing the sounds of frustration. How do we help this world mend?

The artwork for this album is also worthy of note; combined with the music it is very mesmerizing. The futuristic sci-fi feel is magnificent.

Definitely a little something for everyone on this album.
