Album Review: Killswitch Engage, This Consequence

Written By Steve Jones, OOTB Publications

Killswitch Engage’s (KsE) new album This Consequence (Metal Blade Records)—their ninth release and follow-up to 2019’s Atonement—will be released tomorrow: Friday, Feb. 21.

The first song, “Abandon Us,” sets things off with some new twists and turns on top of that classic KsE sound.

“Discordant Nation” takes aggression to a new level with some of Justin’s most insane drumming to date.

“Aftermath” sounds like it could have been written 25 years ago. This song jams!

I couldn’t help trying to sing along to “Forever Aligned.”

“I Believe”… that this song is a killer! Another big chorus to sing along to, Jesse puts it out there on this one.

“Where It Dies” has crissspyyy riffs at their finest! I really like the bass guitar tone on this record, they really captured Mike’s live sound. Kick ass tune!

“Collusion.” WoW. I mean WOW!

“The Fall Of Us.” WOWWWWW!!!

“Broken Glass” goes in some directions that I wasn’t ready for; this is one of the most interesting tracks on the record.

“Requiem” stands out amongst an album full of killer tunes and finishes the record strong.

I’ve been a fan of KsE for 25 years and This Consequence is one of their finest. The band’s creativity continues to impress after all these years.

What a fantastic album!
