Top 5 Feature: Before I Wake

Before I Wake is a metal band from Central Ohio, established in 2023. Blending the aggression and intensity of Metalcore, Hardcore, Industrial, and Nu Metal, the band creates a sound that is heavy, dynamic, and unapologetic.

Since their formation, Before I Wake has released two EPs: their self-titled debut EP, Before I Wake, followed by their sophomore release, Guiding Light. The band has also continued to build momentum with a series of singles, including: “King of Lies,” “Shatter The Silence,” “Villain In Vogue,” and “Hold You Close / Tear Me Apart.”

Driven by heavy riffs, powerful vocals, punishing drums, and an atmosphere that moves between darkness and intensity, Before I Wake brings together multiple influences to create a sound that is uniquely their own.

Since their inception, Before I Wake has experienced a couple lineup changes. The current lineup continues with three original members pushing forward—louder, heavier, and without compromise carving their own path through the Ohio metal scene. On Sept. 17, vocalist Christian announced he will be departing the band after their Oct. 24 show.
