Thursday, Sept. 24, Ole 60 took the stage at KEMBA Live! in Columbus, Ohio with opening acts Garret Elias and Kolton Moore & The Clever Few, as part of the Off The Grid Tour.
It was the kind of night that an outdoor venue was made for—the chill of fall in the air, not a cloud in sight.
I met up with a buddy from work and we headed in, climbing to the top of the lawn seats to sit in the ADA sitting. This is such a plus for venues to have. I really appreciate it.
Kolton Moore & The Clever Few played a great set. The crowd was super into them, singing along. I only had heard a few songs from these guys and hearing them live was really cool. “Mine All Mine “ live was an experience I don’t want to forget.
Ole 60 came out to a killer intro, including some instantly recognizable Rage Against The Machine riffs, before launching into “Rose” and then “Dust to Dust.”
Not a whole lot of banter, which is sometimes a welcome change; these guys just wanted to play their music.
They brought the heat. A great cover of Alice In Chains’ “Nutshell” ushered in a trio of sad songs, including “Brother Joe” and “Insane.”
The last half of the show was just as compelling, including their Coldplay cover of “Yellow” from their debut album Smokestack Town, which I enjoy more than the original. They ended with breakthrough hit “Smoke And A Light,” which is a perfect song to end on.
All in all, a great show with a phenomenal crowd, and I’d be remiss to not mention the light show that was top notch.
