What a way to end the summer! Europe, the Swedish rock band that formed in 1979, is releasing their 12th studio album, Come This Madness (Silver Lining Music, Hell & Back JVC) tomorrow: Friday, Sept. 25.
If you are the age of 30 or older, surely you have heard their 1986 classic song, “The Final Countdown.” An ageless hit that I still catch myself singing regularly. Now, celebrating the 40th anniversary of “The Final Countdown,” Europe has given us yet another epic album to bless our ears.
The album is loaded with tracks that are both classic and new—both 1980s and 2020s. Europe not only give us the sounds that we desire, but also a message of today’s current trials and tribulations for us as individuals, and for the world as a whole.
As I listened to Come This Madness, every track was my new favorite. The whole album is my favorite! Every intro draws you in with a positive and delightful sound, whether it an orchestra or the keyboard, it all draws you in.
“Come This Madness” was top tier in beat and rhythm. “This Time Of Year” carried a touch of tragedy and sadness; so beautiful and melancholy in the best way.
“Scandinavian Eyes” really gave a cinematic, 1980s, fast paced beat and sound. It will make your heart flutter like a teenager with a first crush. The song really made me nostalgic for some 80’s movies with the big hair band soundtrack. It was a replay must for me.
“Takin’ It Back” was a big favorite also, but if I had to choose one that I could hear on replay for my workday, it would be, “In The Absence of Grace.”
I hope you treat yourself to this amazing album as soon as possible. Don’t be late on what is surely to break charts! You will regret even being a day late as you would be neglecting your ears of pure awesomeness.
