The Southbound Saints are a Red Dirt, Country, Southern Rock band based in the Southwest Missouri and Southeast Kansas area.
Formed in 2015, the band quickly made their mark with a sound that blends gritty country, raw southern rock, and the storytelling tradition of red dirt music.
Over the years, The Southbound Saints have built a dedicated fanbase, sharing the stage with national and regional acts such as: William Clark Green, Turnpike Troubadours, Bart Crow, Jackson Taylor And The Sinners, Sam Riggs, JB And The Moonshine Band, and many others.
From the rolling hills of North Dakota and Montana to the plains of New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma, The Southbound Saints have played across the country; bringing their infectious live performances to venues large and small.
Their debut single, "Lonely Met Love,” released in 2015, introduced their signature sound—blending heartfelt lyrics with gritty guitar riffs and anthemic hooks. This track was widely streamed on platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and ReverbNation, gaining them early recognition in the Red Dirt and Country music scenes. The band then began work on a full length album in 2017.
However, life had other plans. As band members took time for personal milestones—including marriage, family, and new chapters in life—the band decided to take a break.
What was meant to be a short, winter hiatus, quickly turned into several years apart, and the band slowly drifted into a memory, encountering life, death, ups, downs, wins, losses, and everything in-between, but in 2025, Phillip Stinnett (lead singer and primary songwriter) and original drummer Anthony Dunaway reconnected, determined to reignite the band’s momentum.
The duo decided to release two songs they had recorded with the original lineup back in 2017, that were orignally supposed to be part of the full-length release, as singles, "Lipstick Stain" and "Pick Me,” as a way to mark their return. These two singles gained them some renewed momentum, marking the band's return to the music scene.
The band also recruited a new lineup, including: bassist Colt Nush and session musicians Thaddaeus Andrew Morton (Co-Frontman/Lead Guitarist of the Red Dirt band Rangeline) and Mikey Schaper (Multi-instrumentalist/Steel Guitarist for singer/songwriter Blaine Bailey, and several others) to help create fresh, new material.
Together with longtime producer/engineer Jeff Smith (Studio 2100 - Springfield, MO - Jeff has worked with countless major nation acts, including: Brent Cobb, Lana Del Rey, Imagine Dragons, NeverShoutNever, and many more) the band began working on several new songs.
The first of those new tracks, "Burn It Down,” was released on New Year's Eve 2025, with two more singles shortly after. These tracks reflect a deeper, more polished sound, combining classic Red Dirt roots with a modern edge. The band is also currently working on even more new material, which will be announced at a later date.
The Southbound Saints have recently been featured on several radio stations—their music gaining full rotation on 106.7fm Red Dirt Radio (Ft. Smith, AR), 96.9fm KKOW The Kow (Joplin, MO/Pittsburg, KS), 107.9fm Real American Country (Wichita, KS), and 99.3fm KGVE The Bridge (Grove, OK).
The band is also gearing up for brand new music and live show announcements coming soon.
With a fresh new sound and a reinvigorated passion for music, The Southbound Saints are just getting started.
Fans can find their music on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, iTunes, YouTube, and all major streaming platforms, with more to come as they continue to chase their dreams and share their story through song.
