Odd Duck is a small business specializing in clothing, coffees and merchandise collaborations with independent bands and businesses.

The Centerville, Ohio-based word-of-mouth online shop near Dayton was formed from the ashes of former apparel and accessories business Sven & Katies in April 2025.

In this OOTB Interview, Ashley Oscarson—the man behind the scenes, who handles all designs, social media, fulfillment and networking—tells us more:

Why did you want to start Odd Duck?

I wanted to create awesome merch for independent bands. Everything online is made to order, so I can provide way more than just a shirt or two, and elevate what they have available—from shirts to coffees to phone cases to blankets.

How did the company name originate?

I feel I've always been an Odd Duck since I was a child... and what we do is not the norm.

What artists and businesses are you currently working with?

We currently have collabs with: Symmetrical Defiance, To Kill A Monster, Fear Culture, Obsidian Mind, Nvmeless Entertainment, Feast Fam Productions, Killed By a Yeti, Ryan Rex Wrex, The Angel Like Espression, Deviants and Portray The Broken.

Some of our past collabs include: Midwinter, Hall of the Elders, FivebyFive, FieldHockey, Southbound Beretta, Featherweight, Nerve Burner, Better Anyway and Cleansing Of The Temple.

What are some of the types of merchandise you sale?

We have a super wide range of things we sell. Coffees, skateboards, shirts, hoodies, pint glasses, phone cases, blankets, and even shoes... it'd be easier to ask what we dont make!

What’s been the biggest struggle you’ve faced?

Getting our name out there, for sure. We are a word of mouth business... we refuse to pay for ads.

What’s been the biggest highlight of forming Odd Duck?

Meeting all the amazing people along the way!

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

The first annual Odd Duck Fest is Tuesday, June 23 at The Hidden Gem Music Club in Dayton, Ohio.
