Vacant Voice are returning yet again, not just with a new single, but with a new frontman at the helms.
A few months ago I reviewed the Milwaukee, Wisconsin based melodic metal acts’ single “Code Red;” a political statement that was riff forward and telling of the times.
Now, they are releasing yet another single, titled “Waste,” with their new vocalist Sean Madden at the forefront.
“Waste” is a a full frontal assault of brutal, yet melodic riffs, versatile vocal deliveries and lyrical content seemingly centered around self-loathing—and it absolutely works.
The dissonant guitar looming in the background over the main riff adds a layer of dread, a solid touch for the theme the track seems to follow.
The production is also noteworthy; the mix is fantastic and the band feels tight while remaining raw and explosive. Not overproduced, nor undercooked.
If you’re a fan of metal of nearly any sort, you’re likely to enjoy what Vacant Voice continues to cook up, regardless of who is holding the mic.
