Review & Photos: Alice Cooper in Huber Heights, Ohio

It was the perfect kick off to another spectacular summer concert season at the beautiful outdoor Rose Music Center in Huber Heights, Ohio. (The same city where the only Buc-ee’s in the state of Ohio is located, which opened its doors earlier this month.)

Legendary rock music icon Alice Cooper enthralled fans on a chilly evening for a nonstop 90-minute headlining show that featured all the hits—one song directly after another, spanning Cooper’s six-decade career.

The setlist included: “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “Billion Dollar Babies,” “Eighteen,” “Feed My Frankenstein,” “Hey Stoopid,” “Poison,” “Brutal Planet,” “Schools Out,” “Only Women Bleed,” “Under My Wheels” and many more.

Along with Cooper, the impeccable touring band includes recent addition Anna Cara (guitars, backing vocals)—whom Nita Strauss chose as her replacement during maternity leave—and long time members: Glen Sobel (drums), Ryan Roxie (guitars, backing vocals), Tommy Henriksen (guitars, backing vocals), Chuck Garric (bass, backing vocals).

The band members often grouped beside each other  to spotlight their rock-and-roll instrumental parts and about halfway through the set, Cara took over the stage with a stunning guitar solo under a red light, surrounded by fog, and later a brief drum solo by Sobel.

At the age of 78, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer showed no signs of physically slowing down or losing any vocal strength and stamina; matching the good old days of his hey day, continuing to maintain relevance and significance through the years.

The Godfather Of Shock Rock didn’t let anyone down and gave attendees their money’s worth as many of the songs entertained with different theatrics until the final bow—cane, crutches, sword, cape, beads, top hat, guillotine, straitjacket, a beheading, and a giant Frankenstein, among other jackets, props and characters.

Following this tour, Alice Cooper will spend most of the summer overseas for solo performances and  dates with The Hollywood Vampires.

This Fall, Cooper is set to release a new autobiography titled Devil On My Shoulder: A Memoir, on Oct. 6.
