Album Review: Devils Cut, Roadkill

By James Magill, OOTB Publications

Louisville, Kentucky band Devil’s Cut debut effort Roadkill (MNRK Heavy), releasing Friday, April 24, is ten tracks of loud, solid rock with a country twang.

It’s described as a hybrid of country and metal, and that’s a prevalent feature—moreso with some of the lyrics than any of the instrumental stylings.

It’s a decent record, but I didn’t hear a song that reached out and grabbed me and made me want to listen to it more than once.

The last track, titled “Bluegrass Burnin’,” started with some nice banjo before going into the same metal stylings as the rest of the album, it was like a little tease.

A decent album to listen to on a short drive through traffic, but not something I think I would come back to again and again; however, there’s enough to enjoy that I would check out future releases.
