Review & Photos: Rise Against in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

On Friday, March 13, Rise Against brought their explosive live show to Stage AE in Pittsburgh with support from Destroy Boys and Koyo Lihc—and the result was nothing short of electric.

The venue was packed wall-to-wall with fans, creating the kind of charged atmosphere that perfectly suits the band’s brand of passionate, high-energy punk rock.

From the moment the lights dropped and the band hit the fog-filled stage, the crowd erupted. Rise Against has built a reputation over the years for delivering powerful live performances and this night was no exception.

The band ripped through a set that blended fan favorites. The newer songs fit seamlessly alongside the classics, proving the band is still evolving while maintaining the urgency and intensity that made them a staple of modern punk rock.

Rise Against just released their 10th studio album Ricochet last August.

Frontman Tim McIlrath was the driving force behind the night’s energy. Known for pouring everything he has into every performance, McIlrath commanded the stage with relentless intensity.

Throughout the show, he constantly engaged the crowd—encouraging sing-alongs and call-and-response moments that had the entire venue shouting lyrics back at him.

One of the cool moments of the night came when McIlrath climbed down from the stage and into the sea of fans. Surrounded by outstretched arms and voices screaming every word, he continued performing right in the middle of the crowd. It’s the kind of move that perfectly captures what makes a Rise Against show special—the connection between the band and their fans.

Musically, the band sounded tight and powerful, delivering their signature mix of melodic hooks, driving guitars, and politically charged lyrics. The tracks carried the same urgency fans have come to expect.

By the end of the night, Stage AE felt less like a concert venue and more like a unified chorus of voices. Rise Against didn’t just play a show—they created an experience fueled by passion, energy, and a deep connection with their audience.

With Ricochet out now and the band currently on tour, Rise Against continues to prove why they remain one of punk rock’s most powerful and enduring live acts.
