A solid four band lineup of rock and metal is visiting the region, including a stop in Columbus, Ohio at the A&R Music Bar this Thursday, March 5, as part of the 23-city “Tour In The U.S.A..”
Recently finishing a sold-out international tour with Biohazard and Life Of Agony, Raleigh, North Carolina’s LYLVC (pronounced “lilac”) is part of the supporting lineup—alongside Butcher Babies, Eva Under Fire and headliner Jeris Johnson.
LYLVC blends rock, hip-hop and alternative styles with two vocalists.
The quintet has shared stages with many artists, including: Saint Asonia, P.O.D, New Years Day, Atreyu, Pop Evil, Fame on Fire, Point North, A Killer's Confession, From Ashes to New, Fire From The Gods.
While traveling from city to city on tour, LYLVC lead vocalist Alyse Zavala took time for this OOTB Interview to give attendees an idea of what to expect from their live shows; she also reflects on the band’s recent international tour, next plans, and she previews LYLVC’s upcoming personal new single, “Starless”—which was recorded at Howard Benson's West Valley Studios with Mike Plotnikoff (Three Days Grace, My Chemical Romance, Seether, Halestorm, Papa Roach).
When fans see you on your current tour with Jeris Johnson, Butcher Babies and Eva Under Fire, what can the crowd expect from an LYLVC live experience?
We are crazy energetic, emotional, and powerful during our live performances.
All the band members move so much and Oscar and I push and pull off of each other and the crowd.
We climb light towers, headbang in people’s faces and jump around and dance nonstop.
Get ready for a wild set.
Having experience touring internationally and in the states, how does it compare as far as similarities and differences?
Germany, Belgium, and Netherlands people brought soooooo much crowd and pit energy when we were in Europe!
I think when we were in UK, they were more reserved with their expressions, until they meet you at your merch table. [laughs]
One guy from London was sooo reserved in his expression, but he was saying it was so hard to contain his excitement and how much he loves us.
[laughs] I was like don’t contain it! Let it out! [laughs]
In the United States, it varies between states, but I feel like sooo many states are ready to rock right away.
I was so surprised with how powerful the energy and connection was at our last show in Atlanta a couple days ago. The crowd was amazing and everyone wanted to hang out after the show and take pictures.
Montana, New Mexico, Texas, and Ohio people know how to throw down too. Always a party! [laughs]
As you continue on this tour, what are your foreseeable plans through the year?
Finish this suz-week tour with Jeris Johnson, Butcher Babies, and Eva Under Fire.
Release our song “Starless” and watch it skyrocket through the radio charts! [laughs]
Then, we got MMRBQ Festival with Godsmack, Alice Cooper and Everclear in May and Rocklahoma in September!
We hope to write more music this summer and book a tour sometime in the Fall/Winter later this year as well.
What all can you tell us about your new single, releasing in March? What can we anticipate?
Our new song “Starless” is for anyone who has ever struggled with suicide.
Oscar (our rapper) is a survivor and I also dealt with a rough childhood growing up, so I think this song is to help listeners know they aren’t alone when they feel weak.
“The nights when you die, I’ll bring you back to life. I’ll be there helping you- fighting for you when the sky is starless, I’ll be the light inside your darkness.”
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
If you see a date near you, come rock out with us.
We genuinely love connecting with new people and hearing their stories every night.
Comment on our song “Starless” and tell us what you think! Love you all!
