Chicago area pop-punk rockers Glory Days, who formed in 2016, recently released a song and nostalgic music video that takes listeners back to the Vans Warped Tour days with “Because Friends Are All We Have” via Ghost Killer Entertainment.
Glory Days recently took time for this OOTB Interview to discuss their latest song, longevity, rewarding experiences, tour partner wishes, goals for the year and more.
Thank you so much for your time with this interview, I absolutely loved your previous single “Clocks”!
Happy to be able to chat!
Thank you so much, “Clocks” is such a personal song for us and I’m happy you could enjoy it and hopefully the message shines through for you as well!
When listeners hear the new single, “Because Friends Are All We Have,” what do you hope is taken away from it, lyrically, musically and visually with the new video?
We hope anyone who listens can relate on every level—can relate to depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts.
It may show them that they aren't alone, that other people out in the world feel the same way. Friends are important to have.
Everyone can have bad days, weeks, months, years. But, things always turn around; life is what you make it, stay positive
Is there personal inspiration behind the song?
Oh, most definitely!
Unfortunately, loss is inevitable in life, and in the past couple years, there has been a few unexpected deaths in our lives and this song was inspired by these.
The friends we have and the family that love and hold us close, are the ones that have helped us through life, and we’re lucky to have such loving people around us.
Forming the band almost 10 years ago, what is the biggest struggle you’ve encountered in the music industry and how have you coped with that?
We've been pretty blessed with all of us being such good friends, that we've been able to stick to it with each other for so long and still love to write and play music together.
The toughest struggle we've had is confidence in our craft.
We always feel like we're just regular dudes making music that we enjoy, and I feel that may make us look like we don’t care as much, which is quite the opposite of the truth!
On the other side of things, what’s been the most rewarding thing you’ve experienced?
Being able to play music in front of people is such a rewarding experience, so anytime we play is lovely, of course.
I would say, going back to our hometown high school and being able to inspire some younger kids to make music.
Being able to give back to our local community and say we were sitting in the same seats as them years ago, trying to fit in with everyone around us, trying to fit into the societal norms, like we were told to do.
Now, we're playing shows, doing weekend tours and doing something that we love, just from sticking with it, is such a great experience.
If you could tour with any artist or band, who would that be and why?
This is always such a difficult question, because there's so many amazing bands that we would love to have the opportunity to tour with.
But, if we had the chance to tour with Saosin, that would be rad.
They're one of the bands that we can all agree upon being such phenomenal song writers and performers.
Plus, it would be pretty cool to be able to pick their brains about their writing process and be able to chat about the songs that we grew up on.
What are your plans and goals for Glory Days in 2026?
2026 is the year of plenty of shows, tours, and even more music. Keep an eye out and you'll be seeing plenty more from us this year.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
