Album Review: MØL, Dreamcrush

By Christian Cole, OOTB Publications

Tomorrow, Jan. 30, will see the release of Dreamcrush (Nuclear Blast Records)the latest EP from the eclectic sonic endeavor known as MØL—and what’s in store is an incredible amalgamation of sounds and landscapes.

MØL manages to so perfectly fuse elements of Black Metal, Hardcore and Shoegaze for something that comes out entirely seperate from anything else I’ve experienced in far too long.

The perfect and unmistakable vocal stylings of Black Metal pressed agaisnt beautiful ambience and unsuspecting riffs makes for something entirely fresh and unique.

The song structure through the entire LP is absolutely gorgeous—it’s engaging from the front of the record to the very back.

When writing reviews (speaking for myself, here) it’s very rare to find something SO stand-alone and intriguing that you just want to spend weeks inside it. That is absolutely the case for myself with Dreamcrush

The dynamics of the clean vocals and the growls is so well-balanced, the general atmosphere of the music is just so massive, it’s hard to STOP listening.

If you’re a fan of Shoegaze, Black Metal or just intriguing blends of music; you need to queue up Dreamcrush and experience this incredible journey of sound for yourself. You won’t find a moment of boredom.

Each track stands so well on its own, but in the format of a full listen, it makes each moment that much better. MØL does not disappoint with Dreamcrush, whatsoever.
