Ken Carson’s “Chaos Tour”—titled after his latest album, A Great Chaos—stopped at The Andrew J Brady Music Center last night in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Rap artist Ken Carson was greeted with “We Want Ken” chants as he entered the stage climbing atop a tall riser; reaching the top and pacing left to right across the platform, Carson was barely visible throughout the night as he was positioned in front of bright backing strobes as bursts of thick fog doused the stage.
The ominous low-lit stage atmosphere established the tone and the overall show production itself fittingly matched an angsty adolescent crowd.
A lot of the young audience sported all black clothing and found themselves bellowing out the aggressive, dismal lyrics while jumping up and down nonstop with their cell phone lights constantly waving in the air, some even crowd surfed and lite moshed.
Carson has been noted as having a rage-rap style that encompasses a rebellious rock-and-roll attitude and aesthetic with a hyper hip-hop sound and appeal.
The Atlanta rapper has been in the scene since he was 15 with hip-hop production group 808 Mafia and now at the age of 24 he’s signed with record label Opium (an imprint of Interscope Records) and has collaborated with many artists, including: Playboi Carti, Destroy Lonely, Lil Uzi Vert and others.
Carson’s use of auto-tune and backing tracks proved effective enough to hype everyone up and fans appeared glad that he performed his latest album A Great Chaos practically in its entirety, giving little attention to his other two LPs, X and Project X.
High energy crowd favorites included: “Fighting My Demons,” “Yale,” “Overseas,” “Rock N Roll,” “Jennifer’s Body,” “I Need U.”
This second stretch of the Chaos Tour concludes at the end of November.
