Written By Neil Shumate, OOTB Publications

Between completing a tour with Ill Nino overseas and before joining Mushroomhead at King Of Clubs in Columbus this Thursday and at The Agora in Cleveland this Saturday, heavy rock powerhouse Mind Incision Denver, Colorado bassist and backup vocalist Joel Karschner took time for an interview with OOTB:

How did everything go on your recent 23-date European tour with Ill Nino?

Ill Nino tour was nothing short of excellent. Zero drama with three bands on a bus and made some great friends.

With the current 18-date October tour with Mushroomhead now in motion and your upcoming 23-date tour with Tommy Vext starting in November, what’s your favorite part of touring and your least favorite part of touring with being on the road?

Favorite part of touring is meeting all the fans, getting to know them and hearing their stories.

Least favorite is trying to sleep on a moving bus; the one we have is not very smooth. Also, being away from family and friends is tough.

What do you hope fans take away from a live Mind Incision show?

That they’ve connected with our music somehow.

With every member having a background performing with other bands, has that made collaborating on music and songwriting an easier process?

Much easier. Everyone is at a caliber of highest professionalism.

What Mind Incision song means the most to you and why that song?

The Awakening.” I deal with depression and anxiety, and that song hits different for me, personally.

Outside of music what are some activities and hobbies that interest you?

Fishing, hunting, my dog

What’s coming up in the near feature for the band and after these tours?

Writing new music and bigger tours.

In the far future, maybe five years or so, what are the biggest goals for the band?

To be playing arenas!

Is there anything you’d like to add?

We’re all very humbled to have the opportunity to be in the position we are in and to do what we’re doing. Millions of people dream of doing this and we count ourselves lucky. But, we also have worked very hard to get to where we are. Hard work pays off. Don’t ever give up on your dreams.

Mind Incision are:
