Album Review: Pixies, The Night The Zombies Came, out Oct. 25

Written By Steve Jones, OOTB Publications

There’s a refreshing simplicity to the Pixies’ brit-pop style of song writing. Their new offering, The Night The Zombies Came (BMG) marks the 10th album from a career full of ups and downs, including a hiatus with 20 years between the  release of 1991's Trompe le Monde and 2014's Indie Cindy. With the Boston band’s platinum album sales putting their stamp on the music scene, the Pixies have nonetheless put their stamp on rock-and-roll. The album—which includes work from the band's new bassist Emma Richardson (Band Of Skulls) and follows 2022's Doggerel, will release this Friday, Oct. 25—screams car ride in the country! “Johnny Good Man” and “Mercy Me” are a couple of my favorite tracks on an album that is full of good tunes!
