Symphonic rock and metal was showcased at its finest last night in front of a packed house as Kamelot took the helm with uptempo melodic riffs and an impressive operatic vocal range from Swedish singer Tommy Karevik.
The band with Floridian roots' lineup has had many changes through the years, but the passion and live performance has remained unchanged since their late 80’s foundation; even 13 albums later, including last year’s release The Awakening.
From the newest release, fans were treated to many songs, including “NightSky,” “The Great Divide” and “Willow.” Other songs were performed from previous record releases The Black Halo, Haven, The Shadow Theory and others.
The five-member band pumped the crowd up and had the crowd moving with an energetic set that stood out with live keys. Opening Swedish artist Ad Infinitum vocalist Melissa Bonny joined Kamelot to perform some songs with Karevik.
Earlier in the evening, Swedish power metal stars HammerFall gave a true headlining performance with flawless guitar solos and on point vocals with intense chanting, fist pumping and arm waving crowd interaction throughout the set. The trio string section often had synchronized moves that made fans cheer as they reciprocated, moving their bodies in unison with the repetitive syncopation.
