THE MIDNIGHT DEMON CLUB TOUR

OCTOBER 26, 2022

KEMBA LIVE!

COLUMBUS, OHIO

By Neil Shumate, OOTB Publications

After taking the stage, Highly Suspect vocalist Johnny Stevens greeted each band memeber with a handshake and a hug before kicking into opener "The Sound."

A full diehard crowd sung along throughout the night to the direct, memorable lyrics as the band gave an engaging performance under a bright and overcast lighting combo, a large melting logo back drop, and backing linear LED connecting strips.

Stevens’ soulful, bluesy rock vocals (with some hip-hop, reggae moments) were on point as well as his guitar skills, alongside bassist Rich Myer and guitarist Matt Kofos. The string talent was showcased during an extended jam session version of The Boy Who Died Wolf’s “Serotonia,” which caused the members to take a brief rest on the stage floor while still playing.

The band primarily performed songs from Grammy-nominated Mister Asylum (including “Lydia,” “Bloodfeather”) and from their recent release The Midnight Demon Club, including current number one catchy alt rock hit “Natural Born Killer” as well as danceable “Ice Cold,” heavy hitter “Pink Lullaby” and others.

After the instrumental “Juzo” there was a standout solo acoustic performance of “Wild Eyed Son” by Myer and later a unique live version of “My Name Is Human.”

Highly Suspect continues to climb to the top as their diverse rock genre songs are rotated across many different platforms and radio stations. The band’s spirited live performance confirms their deserving recognition.

UK’s Tigercub trio warmed the crowd up with deep bass tunings and rocked out like Queens Of The Stone Age.
